Face masks and the materials that can be used to make them...

Guest User

In an article written by Tara Parker-Pope for The New York Times published April 21,2020 some relevant and useful information was shared. It revealed that fabrics used to manufacture sheets and pillowcases are very efficient in filtering large and small viral particles. In response to the pandemic we have produced face masks using 2 layers of our much loved, crisp 200TC 100% cotton percale, the very same we use for our bed linens. The fabric has been treated with a water repellent and antibacterial treatment. It is reusable and can be washed at 140 degrees with detergent which may contain bleach. As responsible citizens it is our duty to protect those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19 as well as ourselves by wearing a face mask in public and practicing social distancing until it is safe to return to normal activity. We have made them available for sale to the general public. Click here to purchase yours!

“Pillow cases and sheets: Smart Air tested 100 percent cotton, 120-thread-count sheets, and found the material filtered 90 percent of large particles and 24 percent of small particles. In the 2013 study, two layers of pillow case fabric tested close to the efficiency of a surgical mask for large particles. The Missouri scientists reported that four layers of 600-thread-count pillow case material achieved the filtration protection of a surgical mask.”

Now, imagine you are slipping into clean, soft, comforting, supple and luxurious bed sheets. Were you counting while you were doing that? We hope not, because Bellino would like you to focus more on what you can actually count on; the quality and hand of the product.

This is what distinguishes our product from the rest.

Thread count is only one part of creating a fine fabric used for sheeting. There are other important factors that need to be considered when shopping for your bedding, and thread count is probably the last. We want to put you in control and inform you of the more important aspects necessary in creating a fine textile for sheeting, which are the fibers used to weave the fabric and the processes utilized to finish it. This is what distinguishes our product from the rest.

Do not let anyone tell you what to choose, what you sleep on is highly personal

We want to encourage you to choose your linens based on your personal preferences. Do you like percale or sateen – what you choose will make all the difference to you when you retreat to your bedroom sanctuary for rest and relaxation. Sateen is smooth, lustrous, and slightly thicker and more tightly woven suited to cooler weather, while percale is soft, crisp, breathable, and perfect for every day of the year but especially during the warmer weather. But do not let anyone tell you what to choose, what you sleep on is highly personal and a very important investment since you spend over three quarters of your life in bed. Choose with your senses and let us worry about the rest, we will take care of providing you with the best quality product at the most competitive price.

A fabric with a thread count, of 200 high-quality fibers can have a better hand, or feeling to the touch, than a thread count, of 400 inferior quality fibers

Bellino has been partnering for decades with the top European dying factory located near our factories in Italy. They finish our fabrics and the ones of other prestigious international brands. They singe and mercerize our fabrics which are vital processes needed to create a smooth high-quality fabric that will not pill or fade. Thread count is simply the number of threads per square inch of fabric. These consist of vertical threads (warp) and horizontal threads (weft) woven together. A fabric with a thread count, of 200 high-quality fibers can have a better hand, or feeling to the touch, than a thread count, of 400 inferior quality fibers. We want you to know that we weave our fabrics using long staple cotton, using single ply yarns and have a single pick in the weft of the fabric. Finally, our fabrics are finished in Italy using a process developed over generations and considered an art form. This entire process yields high quality fabrics, some sateen and some percale in varying thread counts that Bellino transforms into modern and classic bed linens for your home.

This you can count on!
