Thread Count – Don't Count on It

Guest User

Close your eyes!

Now, imagine you are slipping into clean, soft, comforting, supple and luxurious bed sheets. Were you counting while you were doing that? We hope not, because Bellino would like you to focus more on what you can actually count on; the quality and hand of the product.

This is what distinguishes our product from the rest.

Thread count is only one part of creating a fine fabric used for sheeting. There are other important factors that need to be considered when shopping for your bedding, and thread count is probably the last. We want to put you in control and inform you of the more important aspects necessary in creating a fine textile for sheeting, which are the fibers used to weave the fabric and the processes utilized to finish it. This is what distinguishes our product from the rest.

Do not let anyone tell you what to choose, what you sleep on is highly personal

We want to encourage you to choose your linens based on your personal preferences. Do you like percale or sateen – what you choose will make all the difference to you when you retreat to your bedroom sanctuary for rest and relaxation. Sateen is smooth, lustrous, and slightly thicker and more tightly woven suited to cooler weather, while percale is soft, crisp, breathable, and perfect for every day of the year but especially during the warmer weather. But do not let anyone tell you what to choose, what you sleep on is highly personal and a very important investment since you spend over three quarters of your life in bed. Choose with your senses and let us worry about the rest, we will take care of providing you with the best quality product at the most competitive price.

A fabric with a thread count, of 200 high-quality fibers can have a better hand, or feeling to the touch, than a thread count, of 400 inferior quality fibers

Bellino has been partnering for decades with the top European dying factory located near our factories in Italy. They finish our fabrics and the ones of other prestigious international brands. They singe and mercerize our fabrics which are vital processes needed to create a smooth high-quality fabric that will not pill or fade. Thread count is simply the number of threads per square inch of fabric. These consist of vertical threads (warp) and horizontal threads (weft) woven together. A fabric with a thread count, of 200 high-quality fibers can have a better hand, or feeling to the touch, than a thread count, of 400 inferior quality fibers. We want you to know that we weave our fabrics using long staple cotton, using single ply yarns and have a single pick in the weft of the fabric. Finally, our fabrics are finished in Italy using a process developed over generations and considered an art form. This entire process yields high quality fabrics, some sateen and some percale in varying thread counts that Bellino transforms into modern and classic bed linens for your home.

This you can count on!

Vegas Baby!

Karrie Sullivan

NoMad Las Vegas opened its doors on October 12 and we’re not sure who’s more excited about it - our friends at NoMad? or the team at Bellino.

The hotel is reportedly the coolest hotel in town. It sits atop the Park MGM and features some of their standards (pedestal tubs, Bellino Fine Linens, and leather headboards) but also features a new casino and 2 glorious restaurants run by Daniel Humm and Will Guidara.

The stunning and historic Tiffany Glass ceiling was orignial to the Monte Carlo and tops the gaming floor which is reminiscent of the most glamorous European casinos.

The Comfiest Bed EVER - Proper San Francisco

Karrie Sullivan

“This was one of the most, if not the most, comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in.”

The Points Guy recently stayed at one of our favorite places: Proper Hotel in San Francisco. This hotel is chic, gorgeous, and comfortable nestled in a neighborhood that isn’t touristy so guests get a better feel for life in San Francisco.

Of course don’t take our word for it:

“The San Francisco Proper Hotel is a cool new addition to the San Francisco hotel scene. I liked the quirky décor, the in-room amenities, and especially that bed.”

Duck Bacon + Bellino Sheets? Yes Please! | Proper San Francisco

Karrie Sullivan

This mouth watering article by 7x7 by Marie Salcido highlights one of our favorite places in San Francisco. The Proper hotel pays painstaking attention to detail from their unique decor by Kelly Wearstler - to the gastronomic expertise in their restaurants - to their yummy Bellino bedding.

"We outfitted the guest rooms at San Francisco Proper with our favorite things... items that we ourselves would want to have in order to make our own stay most enjoyable," said Brian De Lowe, Co-Founder, and President of Proper Hospitality.

Among those favorite things? Plush California-made mattresses from Aireloom and silky-soft bed linens from Italian textile manufacturer Bellino keep things extra cozy."

Did we mention that you can order room service from an app on your phone? Duck Bacon and craft cocktails whilst lounging in your bed by Bellino? Why would you ever leave your room?

Our friends at Proper Hospitality are among the best in the business and we're proud that they chose Bellino.

Italia! & the NoMad Los Angeles

Karrie Sullivan

The setting for NoMad Los Angeles was formerly the bank of Italy. The hotelier preserved the building's unique history as they left the massive bank vault and framed many of the treasures that the bank once held. "The curated art collection includes vintage photos, maps, ephemera, and art pieces that help tell their story connecting California to Italy."  In the article from Cool Hunting, Julie Wolfson outlines the attention to detail and curation of fine art and photography that celebrates the connection of southern California to our beloved Italy.

Of course, we're proud to be a partner of the NoMad family of hotels as we share their desire to connect guests to the artisanal luxury of our homeland.

Sustainable Luxury at Casa Violeta in Tulum Mexico

Karrie Sullivan

We love Karla Gutierrez and her vision for Casa Violeta in Tulum, Mexico. Hers is a special place that marries sustainable luxury and food for the soul. Casa Violeta is a sanctuary of local art, history, and the natural energy that is at the heart of Tulum.

From the article in Condé Nast Traveler, "Nature is a theme at Casa Violeta, but guests won’t lack for luxuries. Bellino Italian fine linens dress the beds and there are organic amenities, by Gilchrist & Soames in the bathrooms."

When Karla started her business she carved it from nothing but a love of the land and a vision for what it could become to the loyal clientele they've nurtured over the past 15 years. We respect her approach to business and are proud to be her partner.

Bellino & Proper San Francisco | Condé Nast Traveler

Karrie Sullivan

In their review of hip new Proper Hotel in San Francisco Condé Nast Traveler reviewer and travel goddess, Elise Craig gave some love to the crisp luxury of Bellino Fine Linens.

We adore the Proper and hope their guests adore Bellino.  We're quickly becoming the preferred bedding of boutique hotels around the world for our bedding value and artisan luxury but don't take our word for it:

"Guests in beds of all sizes sleep in California Aireloom king mattresses tucked in crisp Italian Bellino Fine Linens, topped with down comforters and striped Kelly Wearstler cotton blankets; the comfort factor is dialed way up."

We absolutely love our boutique hotel clients and know our consumers will too.
